Dr. Richard Schaefer, MD is the Head Mesenchymal Stem Cell Laboratory, Institute of Clinical and Experimental Transfusion Medicine (IKET), Tübingen, Germany and also works part-time in Harvard Stem Cell Institute, Boston, USA. His research is focused on the characterization and labelling of mesenchymal stem cells using imaging and cell biological methods. Amongst other things, scientists in his research group are trying to find out whether and how labelling affects the migration, settling and biology of mesenchymal stem cells following implantation in vivo.
