Health technology innovation, development and adoption needs to be driven by patient and public need. Our aim is to facilitate this process by creating learning environments where the key partners in this process; patients, NHS, local authorities, industry and higher education come together to learn and share along side each other. Through work focussed education, CPD4 Health Innovation aims to facilitate and speed up the flow of appropriate technology that will be of benefit to the end user.
We specialise in hosting 'open access' high quality master classes and designing be-spoke educational programmes for individual organisations. These events range from specialist topics such as wireless technology, risk management in orthopaedics, health technology assessment and electronic product design for medical devices through to broader, but equally essential skills sets of leadership and team management.
We have the backing of our Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward, which recognises the importance of ensuring that staff in the health sector in the region are equipped with the right skills to drive the sector forward, improving innovation, efficiency and patient care. Health Technology has been identified by Yorkshire Forward as a priority area for investment which acknowledges the diverse range of activity in a number of key healthcare technology sectors in the region.
The value that CPD4 Health Innovation brings to training and development is that through its extensive networks and working relationship with The White Rose Health Innovation Partnership and Yorkshire Forward, it is able to access the leading experts from across the Region in business, healthcare and academia. We understand the importance of applied learning and therefore the 'experts' that we work with ensure that they connect the learning that they are facilitating to the reality of the work environment so that course participants can make the connections and immediately utilise their new knowledge and skills when they return to the workplace.
We specialise in creating environments that bring the right people together in order to:
- share learning,
- break down barriers,
- facilitate understanding,
- establish productive new partnerships
- fast track the application of new knowledge and skills in the workplace.
We draw upon the skills and expertise of key people from business, clinical and academic backgrounds to design and deliver high quality, relevant courses that are fit for purpose. Our goal is that on completion of one of our courses you are able to apply the learning in the workplace with immediate effect.
CPD4 Health Innovation works with organisations and the sector as a whole across the Yorkshire and Humber region, to design and deliver courses that are relevant to their needs. We do this by holding events which bring together key individuals and organisations that are involved in shaping tomorrow's health agenda, to identify crucial training issues to meet both current needs and the challenges of the future.
In addition to designing and hosting bespoke programmes, CPD4 Health Innovation aims to be a 'hub' for training and development activity across the region. An electronic gateway is now available here that signposts the diverse range of suitable post graduate, validated university modules and programmes that are available across the region, for the Health Technology sector.
Master Classes
During the course of 2008 we will host eight Master Classes, bringing together key leaders from across the business, clinical and academic arenas to present their experiences and discuss the learning and how it can be usefully applied and transferred to other relevant settings.
The focus of these Master Classes is being informed through the results of a scoping exercise to establish the key issues that business and the NHS consider to be priority areas for training and development within the Health Technology sector. They will include:
- The intelligent use of IT to liberate patients and clinicians
- Electronic Product Design for Medical Applications
- Speeding up the adoption of innovative technologies: the values of health technology assessment in the NHS
- The product supplier interface: The role of marketing in the NHS
- Technology and Innovation Management
- Wireless Technology and Health
- Clinical Trials across all technology - demonstrating value
- Integrating Assistive Technology in Health
Continuing Professional Development Modules
Each of the eight Master Classes will inform the development of an associated CPD Module. These modules are being designed at a post-graduate level and will be accessible as stand alone, interactive CPD modules where individuals can learn alongside like-minded people. Following CPD modules, individuals will be able to return to work and apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills immediately, without the need for formal assessment.
During 2008, Yorkshire Forward will be supporting 80% of the course fees for twenty places per module.
